Transporting pets to Hawaii
Moving your pets here from the mainland can be a bit intimidating but it doesn't have to be. Preparing your pet for the 5 day or less program does take a bit of time and money but it eliminates the need for a lengthy quarantine here in Hawaii and now enables you to have your pet reunited with you by "direct-release” from any of the outer islands. It takes about 4 months (120 days) of preparation prior to your move and is not available to pets under 10 months of age due to the length of time needed to prepare a pet. There will be a few trips to your mainland vet for blood work, having a microchip inserted, rabies testing and finally a health certification and final pest treatment.
